The multicultural spirit and European charm of the town of Subotica in northern Serbia has been recognized by the German retail chain Lidl, and in addition to the other European cities, decided to open a store in Subotica. Lead by the motto “Welcoming tomorrow, today”, Lidl is focused on sustainability in production and is awareness of what a healthy diet is, and certainly raises the quality of life in Subotica through its retail assortment. The quality of waterproofing during construction of the store was improved using the DRACO waterproofing systems.
How we overcame the challenge
As a company, Lidl promotes the idea of energy sustainability and care towards the environment. The particular ecological awareness by DRACO meant offering solely the DRACO BENT ecological membrane for waterproofing of floor slabs. The DRACO BENT membrane is based on natural sodium bentonite between two interwoven geotextiles. The dense interweaving prevents the movement and accumulation of granules in any one place, thereby ensuring uniform waterproofing properties across the entire membrane. The DRACO BENT membrane is placed on well a compacted and prepared substrate, and over which a concrete slab is directly constructed. Each critical spot of penetration is additionally sealed using the DRACO BENT 110 paste and the DRACO WATERSTOP 500 strip which is characterized with the exceptional ability to swell and to be injected into small cracks occurring on concreting edges and due to subsequent construction work. Incorporating the DRACO waterproofing system fully meets the high ecological and waterproofing requirements, while optimally adapting to working conditions.
