There are two problems with septic tanks. The first, and one that elicits more attention, is that the septic tank releases its contents into the environment. Another problem, less noticeable, but by no means less significant, is the leakage of water and moisture from the outside into the construction of the septic tank which is slowly but surely destroying it.

Waterproofing the tank during construction

To avoid this, it is best and simplest to waterproof a septic tank from the outside and inside immediately during construction. It is necessary to prepare the surface well, which will be waterproofed, cleaned of any residual oil, grease and all loose materials by sandblasting or rinsing with water under pressure to make the substrate compact and resistant. After cleaning, all holes and cracks must be leveled with DRACO FIX 120 repair mortar.

Application of polymer cement waterproofing;

• Before applying the polymer-cement waterproofing on the concrete base, the appropriate primer DRACO PRIMO 100 should be applied. The primer is applied only on old substrates and on those for which the adhesion of the polymer-cement coating is questionable.
• When the surface is prepared, mix both components of the DRACO LASTIC 150 polymer cement waterproofing coating. It is important to gradually add the powder component to the liquid component by mixing with a drill with a mixing attachment.
• The first layer of polymer-cement waterproofing coating DRACO LASTIC 150 is applied to the substrate with a trowel, brush or roller in a thickness of 1 mm. After the first layer has been applied, it is necessary to seal all wall – floor and wall – wall joints with DRACO BAND 100 expansion tape so that the tape is immersed in the first layer of waterproofing coating.

After the first layer of waterproofing has dried, we start applying the second layer of waterproofing coating. It is important to make sure that all expansion joints are completely covered with a waterproofing coating. The thickness of the second layer should also be 1 mm so that the total thickness of the waterproofing is 2 mm.
